Easy to install speedtest on any Debian based node.

Log in as (or become) root

apt-get install python-pip
pip install speedtest-cli

Now just execute ‘speedtest’

(‘speedtest -h’ will reveal some additional CLI options)

Particularly handy if you are using cellular for your Internet connection. The connection I am using in the example above, uses a VPN over a cellular connection from T-Mobile.
