What file are you looking at and how are you looking at it? It should just be text.

Not worth re-installing over. The error message you received is pretty clear what the problem is.
new crontab file is missing newline before EOF, can't install.Simply make sure the last character in the file is a NEWLINE, aka a <return> or <enter>. The crontab file must end with <return> <EOF>. If there is anything other than a <return> at the end of that file, it will be rejected by the OS.
