To completely disable the onboard WiFi from the firmware on the Pi3 / Pi4, add
dtoverlay=disable-wifi
in /boot/config.txt.

David, The internet says: To completely disable the onboard WiFi from the firmware on the Pi3 / Pi4, add
in /boot/config.txt. It looks like to stop the squelch tail from going through the node would require eliminating the squelch tail at the repeater itself. Whatever audio/squelch tale is present from the repeater is going to go through the node. Good luck with all. 73 from an OT, 81 year old ham Dick

Dick, I appreciate the input thank you for taking the time to send me that info. When I got the node I was able to get it working Wi-Fi. I have since hooked it up via cat six Cable and don’t remember how I got it on Wi-Fi. The repeater and node are working great together, open for everyone in Lone Pine to use just trying to eliminate the squelch tail from being sent through IRLP node.
