Is there a way that a DSTAR DV DONGLE be used to get online if you already have a Echo/IRLP Node can you add it to it and have a AllStar Node they call it.

If I could remember who does it I would. Thanks Skip. It ran last
Sunday night (Jan 2) when it was supposed to, but I usually run it
manually sometime during the week when I have time to listen to it
myself. I tried every day, beginning Monday, and it wasn't there. This
Sunday (Jan 9), it was still out.

We really appreciate the service and I hope it can stay with us.

Hi Rusty,

Hi guys. I am new... new to the group, new to IRLP, new to repeaters, ... you get the idea :o)so please pardon me if I am asking 'dumb questions'

I am trying to get my head around interfacing an IRLP node to an SCOM 7k controller. It SHOULD be fairly straight-forward, as the 7k can control multiple tx& rx. I can understand the interfacing to a simplex radio, but...
This is a good question to ask on the SCOM-Controllers Yahoo group. There are many 7K owners with IRLP nodes on their 7Ks. They can help you out.

Re: SCOM 7k controller to IRLP

Dave K9DC

The main thing to remember is that PTT and COS have to be swapped when moving to a repeater controller. The terms are referring to the perspective of the repeater controller. So incoming COS to the controller is PTT from the node, and outgoing PTT from the controller is wired to node COS.

Once you make that mental flip, everything else is pretty straight forward. Remember that IRLP is half-duplex. You will likely get some weird audio things happening if the port you are using get set to full duplex.

This is an existing node that's being moved from simplex to a repeater.

Does anyone have any wiring diagram suggestions?

The IRLP board is version 2.02.

I have no questions about wiring the 7k to the repeater (it's a Tait T850 series I tx & rx)

The IRLP, even with fewer connections, has me scratching my head...

If I am reading correctly, on the 7k J2 female DB-25, Pin 3 should go to pin 7 of the DB-9,
pin 8 on DB-25 should go to ????
Pin 11 on DB-25 should go to pin 2 on DB-9
Pin 15 on DB-25 should go to ????
I was planning on using pin 20 on DB-25 for ground to IRLP, going to pin 6 of the DB-9.

The DB-9 on the IRLP board should only need to use 4 pins, correct?

If anyone has done this personally, I would be very interested in any information they might have.

Much appreciated!

True, but the issue was setting a LONGER timeout (but not infinite). TO achieve this, you would have to trick the remote end into setting notimeout, while locally, enforcing your longer idle timer. This would probably require a custom replace for the "call" script. :)

You can make changes in your custom decode to handle this easily. If it
is just one or two nodes, look at my web page for custom decode
modifications, including shortcuts.

http://garymcduffie.com/irlp/custom-decode.html#customdecode

Look for the notimeout function and how you can use it.
Keep in mind that the end with the shortest timeout will still drop the link, so you might need to get _really_ fancy (Now this is delving into a part of IRLP I haven't looked through for years), and use a custom designed "call" script for such connections (Dave C is probably having kittens at this point ;) ).

Proceed at your own peril, here there be dragons and monsters. ;)

Hi

You might try this ...

In this example, connection is maintained for 8100 seconds.

Note that the dtmf disable is to keep finger bandits from disconnecting you.

#!/bin/bash
#
# script to connect to Vancouver Reflector 9008 for Friday night
technet
#

source /home/irlp/custom/environment

$CUSTOM/dtmf_disable
$SCRIPT/connect_to_reflector ref9008 notimeout
sleep 8100
$SCRIPT/end
$CUSTOM/dtmf_enable
exit 0

Thanks in advance for the help.

Are you using DHCP for your other machines on the network? It might be that you need to tell your router that 192.168.2.10 is a reserved address (usually by making sure it's outside the DHCP range).

Some other device on your network thinks it is 192.168.2.10, because, well, it is.

Since you probably have port forwarding rules in place, it makes more sense to go around and shut down everything on your network and restart your IRLP box. Then, go find which device is the problem.

Also, if you have a dhcp server running on a router or access point, make sure that address isn't part of the dhcp pool.
