Re: node 2120

Well it does say your router has a problem. You will have to fix the missing port forwards. When you set the node IP as a DMZ host, did you remove all the port forwards from the router? Perhaps they are pointed somewhere else due to old configuration information still on the router.

The DNS is less important, but it does have to work for IRLP to fully work and report correctly. Is CentOS 5 required for your hardware?, or if you don't know, you should be using the CentOS 4 IRLP_CD_V7.06. Many times, CentOS 5 behaves badly with standard hardware. But you did not specify the hardware you are using. Normally, connected to unknown means you are using one of experimental reflectors. But some other malfunction might cause the same indication. -k9dc

I am going to guess at this one, and say that your hard drive is full. If this error comes up, it means the node you are trying to call does not have a key in the keyring. If the keyring is corrupted because of lack of space, it will cause this error.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I can't think of anything else that would come up and cause that error. After reading the email again, it sounds like it is not even connected to the internet. When you are logged in and try to run a command like: ping irlp.net what kind of reply do you get? Dave Cameron

NBEMS Training via IRLP
Bob W AB0BW
To all IRLP group members,
I'm happy to announce that there is a NBEMS digital net in Southeast Minnesota...every Thursday night starting at 8:00pm cst... At 8pm we use HF on 80 meters...but then we switch to a local repeater frequency for VHF at 9:00pm cst... Last week we tried to connect an IRLP reflector to the repeater...the connection was fine but there was nobody else on the reflector... We will be connected to IRLP reflector 9627 beginning at 9pm this Thursday... Generally, we use fldigi software using MT-63 16/500 mode... This mode is very robust...some operators just use a handheld radio and the sound card of their computer...works well... Any and all are welcome to try out your digital setup and skills...and check into the net... Hope to see you on the waterfall Thursday night... --Bob-- AB0BW [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

As another note, I did not have this problem on the old system. Only trouble I had was if it went off for any reason, I couldn't get the machine to reboot. I tried another drive and finally concluded it was a motherboard problem, that is why I switched machines.

Sorry, I don't recall the error exactly. No help, I know.... As I recall, as it was read to me, said invallid boot option and then 00 00/1b0. I should have had my cousin write it down exactly but he was in a hurry and I figured if I restored an image, things would be o.k. Image was from old system, so yes, I may have just restored the error. Is there any way I can log this or run it over the network so I can tell what is going on?

I tried scandisk and I don't know what happened, but the machine wouldn't boot back up. I can have a look, but I can guarantee that if the crash is not related to an IRLP script. If it was, it would have hung up many other systems as well.

Yes, this is the drive I transplanted as the other pc wouldn't boot. I can do that eventually, but will have to get sighted help and I'll lose a lot of custom stuff I have such as pine. I was hoping someone could take a look and see what program is crashing the system as it is the exact same time each day.

I would suggest that there is something with this hardware that the configuration from the old PC does not like. In theory, this should work, but not always. I think your best course of action is to create a backup of your node, and reinstall fresh with CentOS 4 on this PC. Dave
